About this Event
2026 William Syrotuck Symposium on Advanced Search Theory
The next Syrotuck Symposium is scheduled for April 19-20, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, in conjunction with the National Missing and Unidentified Persons Conference being held April 15-17, 2026 in Las Vegas.
The Syrotuck Symposium began in 1996 to: Foster the intellectual and scientific development of SAR methods and techniques, to promote new ideas, and to encourage development of new techniques and the practical use of technology.
The Symposium has evolved the following mission statement: A focused public SAR gathering with curated invitation-only speakers discussing emerging trends that affect search and rescue.
2026 Theme: Detection
The 2026 Symposium program will be built around the theme "Detection," exploring a range of topics related to detection in SAR, including:
- Research Findings: Cutting-edge discoveries and methodologies in search operations.
- Use of Detection Technologies: Current and emerging tools and technologies used to detect the target of a search.
- Training Methodologies: Field trials, training approaches, and best practices for enhancing sensors' ability to detect.
A detailed agenda will be announced soon.
The event will feature a mix of presentations, panel discussions, and workshops, with both in-person and online attendance options to ensure accessibility for all interested participants (though in person attendence is highly encouraged!)
