2026 Tried & True Helping Hands Cook-Off event

State championship CBA sanctioned cook off 2 day event.
We are a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) charity organization (Steven Smithhart Memorial Foundation).
This is our big yearly event to raise funds to provide much needed equipment to local volunteer fire departments (Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department). We also award scholarships to local area graduating seniors (Greenwood, Monahans, Kermit, and Wink) to help further the education of our youth.
As our event grows, we hope to add more to the list for both the first responders donation program and the scholarship program.
Vendors---food---kids zone with jumpers---concert---auctions---raffles--FREE BBQ for taste judges.
There will be an appreciation dinner for our volunteer fire fighters/cook teams during the concert on Sept 18 beginning at 8 pm.
Any businesses that would like to donate items for the dinner or for appreciation gifts for our volunteer fire fighters, please email us at [email protected] for more information.
Our volunteer fire fighters and cook teams will eat for free. Plates will be sold to others and the public for $12 a plate (only from 8 pm - 10 pm September 18th). Meal will consist of 3 Brisket or Pulled Pork street tacos, our amazing crack corn, slap ya mama green beans, dessert, and sweet or unsweet tea.
There will also be some awesome items auctioned off during the concert on Sept. 18th (beginning at 8 pm) and during the awards on Sept. 19th (beginning at 5 pm).
Come out and have some fun with us while also supporting a great cause!!!
We are always looking for individuals or businesses to sponsor, donate items, enter a cook team, be a vendor, be a taste judge, or even volunteer your time to help with the event.
