About this Event

Culligan International: Culligan, Official Water Solutions Partner of the TCS New York City Marathon, is committed to delivering cleaner and better-tasting water while accelerating the transition to more responsible hydration solutions through science, service, and sustainability. Culligan will provide ploggers with a reusable sports water bottle, and they will have the opportunity to fill it at the Culligan-filtered water station.

NYRR Team for Climate: For the third year, we are excited to be joined by NYRR Team for Climate: a group of dedicated runners who have committed to supporting NYRR on its sustainability journey by helping deliver a more environmentally friendly racing experience to all participants.

Tina Muir: Tina is a sustainability advocate, former elite marathoner, and founder of Racing for Sustainability who will be joining the plog.

This exciting route will start from the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the NB Run Hub and finish at the iconic TCS New York City Marathon Finish Line in Central Park.

What is Plogging?

Plogging refers to the act of picking up trash while running. The expression stems from the combination of the Swedish term "plocka upp" meaning "to pick up" and the English term “jogging”. This activity will introduce new movements into your run while helping clean up our planet.

No plogging experience is required, and runners and walkers of all paces are welcomed. Walkers will take a slightly shorter route and finish alongside the runners.

NYRR will provide compostable bags and gloves to all registered ploggers. Restrooms and lockers (available on a first-come, first-served basis) will be available. Attendees will receive a reusable sport water bottle courtesy of Culligan and will be able to refill it with Culligan-filtered water. We will be plogging rain or shine, so please dress accordingly.

For any accessibility reasonable accommodation requests, please email [email protected].

Can't make it on October 30? We still encourage climate activists in all parts of the world to join us from afar by plogging in their own towns to spread awareness and help clean up our planet. Tag us @nycmarathon, @nyrr and #TCSNYCMarathon to show off your plogging efforts!
