2026 Rhode Island Governor Debate hosted by WPRI 12 at Rhode Island College

Limited seating is available to attend the RI Governor Democratic Primary Debate at Rhode Island College Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 8 p.m.
- Doors at Roberts Hall open at 7 p.m.
- All seated and no admission after 7:45 p.m., open seating format
- Live televised debate starts promptly at 8 p.m., ends at 9 p.m.
- You will need an ID and your WPRI 12 Debate EventBrite ticket in hand to present (printed or digital) at the front entrance to enter the debate.
- Free parking is available on campus in Lots B & D (view campus map)
- No bags, props, signs, cameras or outlandish clothing will be allowed inside.
- Phones and mobile devices need to be turned off. No flash photography or video is allowed.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, incumbent Dan McKee and challenger Helena Foulkes will go head-to-head in our Rhode Island governor Democratic primary debate moderated by Tim White and Ted Nesi.
The winner of the Democratic primary will advance to the general election against the winner of the Republican primary — which pits Aaron Guckian against Elaine Pelino — as well as independents Ken Block, Jasjit Gotra and C Reynolds.
This campaign season, 12 News has already hosted Democratic primary debates with the candidates for Providence mayor and Rhode Island lieutenant governor. You can watch those debates on WPRI.com or on the WPRI 12+ TV app.
Rhode Island’s party primaries will be on Wednesday, Sept. 9, with early voting starting on Aug. 20. The Massachusetts primary will be held a week earlier, on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
