About this Event

About The Summit

The North Louisiana HIV Stigma Summit (NLHSS) is a community-driven educational and advocacy initiative dedicated to reducing HIV stigma, improving public understanding of HIV, elevating lived-experience voices, and strengthening partnerships among healthcare, public health, social service, faith, academic, governmental, and community organizations.

Founded by Dr. Darren L. Stanley following the loss of a family member to HIV-related stigma, the Summit was intentionally designed to ensure that people living with HIV remain at the center of the conversation. While Dr. Stanley serves as Founder and Chair, the Summit's priorities and strategic direction are guided by leaders with lived experience who serve throughout Summit leadership.

The Summit exists because stigma remains one of the most significant barriers to:

• HIV testing
• Early diagnosis
• Engagement in care
• Medic*tion adherence
• Mental wellness
• Healthy relationships
• Community inclusion
• Long-term viral suppression
