2026 Nebraska Wildland Fire Engine Academy
About this Event
The Nebraska Forest Service, along with the Nebraska Game & Park Commission and the Nebraska Fire Marshal’s Training Division, will host the first Wildland Fire Engine Academy at Ponca State Park in Ponca, NE. This is an opportunity for local, state, and federal partners to network with other agencies and build skills on engine operations. This is a combination of different National Wildfire Coordination Group (NWCG) courses. Upon completion of the academy, individuals will receive a certificate of participation. This academy will operate in a block time setting. The goal is to provide hands-on experience for personnel during this academy.
Subjects being covered during this session will be Vehicle Maintenance, Hydraulic Operations, Wildland Urban Interface Tactics.
Vehicle Maintenance: Familiarization, Preventative Maintenance, Resource Typing
Hydraulic Operations: Pump Familiarization and Operations, Hose Lays
Wildland Urban Interface Tactics: Structure Assessment and Triage, Point Protection
Tuition: $100 per person
Lodging: $85 per night per person
Meals are the responsibility of the participants. All lodging accommodations have fully functional kitchens. Everyone will have separate lodging accommodations with communal living areas.
