About this Event
We are pleased to announce that the Lands Advisory Board (LAB) and the First Nations Land Management Resource Centre (FNLMRC) will be hosting the 2026 National Conference on the Future of Enforcement of First Nation Laws. This conference will be held both in-person and virtually on November 17 and 18, 2026, in Gatineau-Ottawa, QC, at the Hilton Lac-Leamy Conference Centre.
The two-day conference is expected to attract an audience of over 600 participants including First Nation, provincial and federal government decision makers with expertise in enforcement of First Nation Laws. The conference will focus on the following topics:
- Showcase the strong leadership and innovation First Nations have demonstrated in developing, implementing, and enforcing their own laws;
- Discuss pathways to strengthen and expand enforcement capacity, emphasizing First Nations’ determination to advance their own self-governance;
- Chart a forward-looking vision for collaborative nation‑to‑nation progress on law enforcement.
