2026 Mobile GREAT Workshop

About this Event

Modern genomic research generates vast amounts of data. How can we help students compose analytical questions and use available data to answer those questions? In this seventh round of GREAT workshops, we dive into data puzzles, looking at new ways of introducing students to data and analytical tools. Engage with FILTERED, HudsonAlpha's game-based introduction to using computational thinking, learn how to puzzle-solving skills could help evade poison exons, and make statistical analysis more approachable for your students. Attending teachers will receive access to digital materials and three new pilot HudsonAlpha kits.

**To be eligible for the GREAT Workshop, registrants must currently teach at least one section of high school biology in an Alabama public school. Registrants who do not meet this requirement will be removed from the roster and notified by email. **

Schools are reimbursed for substitute costs up to $85 per attending educator. Educators must complete the workshop in its entirety to receive take-home materials and receive PowerSchool credit.

Please register by September 10, 2026. When you register, please keep in mind that you are registering for the GREAT Workshop in its entirety. Failure to complete all required sections of the workshop will result in forfeiture of kits and substitute reimbursement.
