Vice Chair Abdur-Rahman to Host Mental Health & Wellness Brunch

The April 25th event will elevate awareness of the programs and services available to residents with a holistic approach.

ATLANTA – Fulton County Vice Chair Khadijah Abdur-Rahman of the Mighty District 6 is once again bringing Mental Health Awareness to the forefront. In partnership with the Fulton County Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities (BHDD), the Vice Chair is inviting residents to attend the Mental Health & Wellness Brunch on Saturday, April 25.

The event, which will be held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum located at 23900 Aviation Cir NW, Atlanta, GA 30336 will be an opportunity for residents to receive a wealth of information and resources to help with improving mental health.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, which serves to recognize the importance of mental health and wellness in Americans’ lives and celebrate recovery from mental illness.

In honor of this year’s theme: “Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World,” Vice Chair Khadijah’s Mental Health and Wellness Fair will provide the community with resources and activities that will focus on the well-being of their mental health.

“The impact of mental illness can be seen every day as lead news stories and headlines. We must make mental health a priority and that’s the purpose of the 2026 Mental Health & Wellness Brunch,” said Vice Chair Abdur-Rahman. “I invite residents to join me and see what resources are available to help their mental health interests.”

The free family-friendly fair will feature several local organizations and Fulton County departments.

Residents will also be entertained by a live DJ and dance groups. Families will be able to enjoy a free day of fun and food while also receiving information and resources related to wellness and mental health. Come by to:

• Talk to local resource providers
• Learn about ways to support community members
• Receive free health screenings
• Take advantage of the Fulton Library mobile unit which will include books curated for youth and adults that focus on mental health needs. In addition, the mobile unit will include STEAM activities designed for young adults.
• Enjoy art activities
• Register for Giveaways

“We are thrilled to once again partner with Fulton County’s Vice Chair Abdur-Rahman of the Mighty District 6 to provide access to mental health services for county residents,” said LaTrina Foster, Director of Fulton County BHDD. “With the County’s ongoing support, we are determined to change the ecosystem through strengthened community partnerships to increase mental health awareness.”
