2026 Meet the Generals Economic Development Expo designed to showcase economic development initiatives currently under construction in DC.
About this Event

The National Association of Minority Contractors—Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Chapter (NAMC-WMAC) with the support of At-Large Councilmember Doni Crawford, the University of the District of Columbia, Chiaramonte Construction Company, Eastern Atlantic Council of Carpenters and the Baltimore-DC Building Trade Council are hosting the “2026 Meet the Generals Economic Development Expo” designed to showcase economic development initiatives that are currently under construction and/or planned in the District of Columbia.

Developers, Prime Contractors, General Contractors, local and Federal agencies, trade unions, utility companies, and major corporations are invited to share information about their projects and potential sub-contracting, employment, and training opportunities. Summary of contracting requirements for District-funded projects and construction-related compliance laws, rules, regulations and reporting.

Construction-related subcontractors, local businesses, trade organizations, UDC students, and District residents to receive information on how to obtain certification, contracts, licenses, permits, procurement, apprenticeship, and workforce development programs and support services.

Goal is to create jobs and build careers for a strong workforce to participate in the economic development of the Nation’s Capital.

Exhibitor Registration -- For Prime Contractors, Developers, Local and Federal Agencies, Utility Companies, and Major Corporations, providing project information and subcontracting, training and employment opportunities.

Support Services Registration -- For Agencies, Organizations, and Trade Unions providing certification, training, workforce development, support services, and capacity-building services.

General Attendee Registration -- For subcontractors, local businesses, UDC students, DC residents, and the general public seeking professional services, training, support services, or business capacity-building opportunities…

What to Expect:

Outreach forum showcasing current and upcoming construction and development projects in the Nation's Capital.

  • Meet Developers, Prime/General Contractors, District and Federal Agencies, Public Utilities, Private Industry and Transportation projects.
  • Access for businesses, District residents and UDC students to sub-contracting, employment, training, and certification opportunities
  • Resources for Union and Agency Apprenticeship Programs, LSDBE Certification, Business Licensing, Building Permits, First Source Agreement Program, Workforce Development Programs, and Section 3 Programs.
  • Available support services, i.e., capacity-building, self-sufficiency, housing, health care, returning citizens, and many, many more...
