Join us for the 2006 Lanark County Seedy Saturday | Your Abundant Garden This year’s theme is Your Abundant Garden. Our speakers will share with you how to grow more, store more, save more, and enjoy more abundance from your garden.
This event features two guest guest speakers (see below), a movie (see below), workshops, a master gardener advice table, seed libraries, seed swap table, horticultural societies, seed vendors, nurseries, compost suppliers, and so much more! You will walk out feeling prepared, empowered and passionate about the upcoming gardening season. Hope you can make it.
Lectures
GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR GARDEN. – 10:45am
Scott Sigurdson of Indian Creek Orchard Gardens will share with you the secrets of succession planting to harvest all season long, trellising to fit more into your garden by growing vertically, using plug trays to effectively double your garden yeild, the use of row covers to extend your season and many other tricks he has up his sleeve to make your garden the most productive it can be.
FLOWERS FOR U ALL SEASON LONG – 12:15am
Breanne Gibson of Divine Colour will offer an informative presentation of that will teach you how to keep the colour in your garden and in your bouquets all season long.
Workshops
CANNING TO GET YOU THRU THE WINTER – 10:15am
so you can enjoy your gardens bounty year round. Presented by Hillary Moore of Maple lane farm, also president of the Almonte Farmers Market.
THE SECRETS OF ROOT CELLARING – 11:45am
Alberto Suarez of Natures Apprentice will share his experience with roots cellars and some low tech approaches that can be adapted to almost any situation, allowing you to store your gardens produce energy free all year round
MAKING YOUR OWN VERMICOMPOST - 1:15pm
Geri Baker, the worm lady will share her soil magic with you
All door proceeds go to support the Lanark County Interval house, a shelter for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. Last year we raised over $3000.
