About this Event

The 2026 Joint Well Integrity and Decommissioning Forum, hosted by Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada (PTAC) and the Plugging & Abandonment Collaborative Environment (PACE) network in collaboration with The University of British Columbia (UBC), will bring together producers, researchers, technology developers, service providers, and regulators from around the world to share practical solutions for the challenges of well integrity, decommissioning, and closure. This unique collaboration combines PTAC’s industry-driven research programs, UBC’s leading technical expertise, and PACE’s international network to create a forum where global experience meets applied innovation. Over two days of technical presentations and discussion, participants will explore emerging technologies, field-proven practices, and new approaches that can improve well performance, reduce closure costs, and strengthen long-term environmental outcomes. On November 18, 2026, PACE will host an invitation-only meeting for PACE Members.

Call for Abstracts: Submit abstracts by September 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. MST, through the following form. In 500 words or fewer, abstracts should be concise and clearly describe the challenge addressed, the approach used, the results or lessons learned, and the practical value for well integrity, decommissioning, or closure. We invite abstracts from operators, service providers, researchers, technology developers, and regulators that showcase practical experience, research findings, case studies, and innovative technologies in the following areas:

  • The Scale and Legacy Challenge – orphan, inactive, legacy, and boomerang wells
  • Cost-Effective Execution at Scale – rigless methods, campaign delivery, efficiency, and field-proven solutions
  • Barrier Integrity and Verification – barrier materials, cement alternatives, SCVF source identification, leakage mitigation, monitoring, and validation
