Open to any Scout from any SCOUTING AMERICA Troop/District/Council.

This is NOT a drop-off for any Scout BSA who is 11 to 13 years old as of MARCH 1, 2026.

All Adult Chaperones must be Registered with their Scout's Troop.

LA PHILHARMONIC PROGRAM :

Like a train conductor guiding travelers, a musical conductor can transport us to exciting places using rhythm, melody, and imagination—just with the flick of a baton or the wave of an arm. Conductor Ana María Patiño-Osorio steers us through a thrilling ride on Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileira, a stormy sea voyage through Scheherazade, a festive dance-filled adventure across Spain and Mexico, and more.

John Adams’ Short Ride in a Fast Machine kicks off the morning with the entire orchestra boogying along to the steadfast clack of a woodblock before bolting off into a joyful fanfare. Through colorful sounds and lively pieces, we’ll discover how the conductor leads us on a journey and keeps all the musicians on track.

10:00 AM - Art Activations aligned with the Music Selections.

11:00 AM - Live Performance by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

12:00 PM - Lunch -on your own.

12:30 PM - Continuation of Music Merit Badge at Colburn School Courtyard.

01:30 PM - Signing of Blue Card(s) for those who have completed all requirements for the Music merit badge only.

02:00 PM -Check In for Art Merit Badge Tour Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) for Art Merit Badge.

NOTES - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

1) There are NO REFUNDS. If you find yourselves unable to attend for whatever reason, please find your own replacement.

2) All Scouts BSA must have a buddy of same gender within 3 years of age.

3) All Adults BSA must be prepared to help Scouts from other Troops as needed.

4) Parking at the Walt Disney Concert Hall starts at $12.00 per vehicle.

5) Lunch Options in the area: Subway, Colburn School Cafe, Lemonade Cafe, California Pizza Kitchen, Starbucks, Concert Hall Cafe. There will be Food Trucks in front of the Broad Museum.

Concert Hall Cafe offers single serve sandwiches, sushi, salads.

6) ART MERIT BADGE PREREQUISITES: Read the Art Merit Badge Booklet from cover to cover before FEBRUARY 28, 2026. Then bring a Mixed Media Sketchbook + 1-2 round tipped and flat-tipped brushes on SATURDAY MARCH 14, 2026.

8) MUSIC MERIT BADGE PREREQUISITES: Read the Music Merit Badge Booklet from cover to cover before FEBRUARY 28, 2026. Complete the following prerequisites by FEBRUARY 28, 2026. Bring proof to show Merit Badge Counselor on SATURDAY MARCH 14, 2026.
