Join the Southwest Detroit Business Association (SDBA) on Friday, June 26, 2026, for our annual Community Investment Breakfast—an inspiring morning that brings together community leaders, business owners, residents, partners, and supporters committed to the future of Southwest Detroit.

For more than 70 years, SDBA has been a driving force in community, economic, and small business development, helping strengthen neighborhood corridors, support local entrepreneurs, advance real estate development, and provide cultural arts opportunities for youth through COMPÁS. Through collaboration and community-centered investment, SDBA has engaged more than 1,700 small businesses and continues to champion equitable growth throughout Southwest Detroit.

This year’s theme, “New Beginnings: Rooted in Community, Rising in Opportunity,” celebrates the strength, culture, and resilience that define our community while embracing new opportunities for entrepreneurship, neighborhood revitalization, and inclusive economic development.

We are honored to welcome Jason Colthorp, morning news anchor for , as the moderator of this year’s Community Investment Breakfast. We are also pleased to receive special greetings and remarks from Mayor Mary Sheffield.

The Community Investment Breakfast is also an opportunity to recognize and celebrate individuals and organizations whose dedication and leadership have made a lasting impact on Southwest Detroit. This year, we will honor outstanding community champions whose service and commitment continue to strengthen our community.

Proceeds from this event support SDBA’s vital programs and initiatives, including:

• Small business development and training
• Community and economic development initiatives
• Placemaking and corridor beautification projects
• Youth cultural arts programming through COMPÁS
• The Retail Accelerator and Community Space at La Joya Gardens
• Advocacy for equitable investment and opportunities in Southwest Detroit
