Matt Tuggle is the Senior Minister at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas. In this role, he provides spiritual and pastoral leadership for the congregation, with a commitment to helping people grow in faith, deepen their relationships with one another, and live out their calling in the world. While preaching is one of the most visible parts of his ministry, Matt considers himself first and foremost a pastor and takes seriously the responsibility of caring for and shepherding the church family.
Matt grew up in Richmond, Virginia, and attended Hampden-Sydney College, where he earned degrees in biology and religion in 2003. After college, he worked in special education and served in youth ministry before attending Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. He was ordained in the North Texas Annual Conference in 2012.
Matt has served HPUMC in a variety of roles, including Director of Youth Ministries, Executive Minister, and Minister of Cornerstone. From 2020 to 2025, he served as the full-time minister of Cornerstone. He became Senior Minister on February 2, 2026, returning to preach across both Cornerstone and Sanctuary while providing leadership for the church as a whole.
Matt and his wife, Amy, have three children, Boyd, Charlie, and Mary Frances. Their family is active in the life of the church and values faith, family, hospitality, and community.
