Application Deadline: Sunday, 10/5 at 11:59pm
Eligibility: Open to Cal undergraduates (all years and all majors). Accepted Fellows must enroll in a required 3-unit course (PS110B) during Spring 2026.
About: Cal-in-Sacramento is one of the University of California’s largest and most prestigious campus-based public service internship programs. For the past five decades, hundreds of Cal students have gone to Sacramento under our auspices to gain first-hand experience in the most dynamic state capital in the country. Many of these students have gone on to careers in politics, government, and public service. Cal-in-Sac Fellows…
- learn about CA politics and policymaking through spring coursework;
- complete an 8-week summer residency and public service internship in Sacramento;
- receive research training and produce a policy memo;
- receive free housing and a modest living stipend.

APPLY TO BE A 2026 SCHAEFFER FELLOW!
Application Deadline: Sunday 10/5 at 11:59pm
Eligibility: Open to registered UC Berkeley students with sophomore or junior standing (including transfer students). Seniors with at least one semester of full-time undergraduate coursework remaining after completing their internship are also eligible.
About: The Matsui Center is pleased to partner with the Leonard D. Schaeffer Fellows in Government Service program to support internship opportunities for undergraduate students in local, state, and federal government. - independently secure a 10-week summer internship in local, state, or federal government;
- attend a 3-day professional conference in Washington, DC;
- develop career skills and build a robust professional network;
- receive a $6,000 stipend to help cover living expenses during their internship.
