The PIT Count is a HUD-mandated assessment that shows a glimpse of how many people are experiencing homelessness in Baltimore City!
About this Event

The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a HUD-mandated assessment that provides a snapshot of how many people are experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness in a community on a given night in January. The PIT Count is important because results from the count are used to inform policy and provide required data that helps the City of Baltimore access needed Federal and State homeless services resources and funding. Also, it helps the city identify and connect individuals, families, and youth experiencing homelessness to much needed housing and support services.

This year’s count will take place on Sunday, January 25, 2026 and Monday, January 26, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 pm. at Our Daily Bread, 725 Fallsway, Baltimore, MD 21202.

Register today to join our efforts!

Calling all Baltimore City Continuum of Care members, city agencies, advocates, persons with lived experience of homelessness, and community members!

Volunteers are needed to canvas various areas around Baltimore City and survey individuals experiencing homelessness. The survey administered helps collect information that will support improving intervention strategies, and allow communities to assess their progress in reducing homelessness.

What can volunteers expect?

Small teams of four (4), led by an experienced homeless outreach worker, will be assigned an area in Baltimore City to physically canvas streets and other outdoor locations to survey individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness. (NOTE: we are not able to accommodate team placement requests if you are volunteering with a group or organization. Your flexibility and understanding on this matter greatly appreciated.)

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and will be required to participate. After you register, you will receive additional information and details about the event.

--

The deadline to register for the 2026 PIT Count is Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
