Be the light in someone’s life by taking just one day out of yours. Join the Pikes Peak Area Rotary Clubs in partnership with NAMI Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak Suicide Prevention for a day of Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA).
Registration to be placed in a class is required: https://tinyurl.com/MHRotary125
MHFA is a skills-based course that teaches participants to Identify, Understand, and Respond to mental health and substance-use issues affecting those around them. By offering this free day of training we hope to provide an opportunity for leaders to prioritize a supportive environment for employees and learn techniques for managing stress and promoting resiliency.
At a pivotal moment, this training arrives when recent studies have revealed that 40% of employees report negative impacts on their mental health due to their jobs, while 75% note the presence of stigma within their workplaces. Despite the growing dialogue on mental health, stigma remains a formidable obstacle to seeking assistance within the workplace. MHFA desires to equip one out of every 15 individuals in America with MHFA training, ensuring that everyone has a trusted confidant to turn to during mental health or substance use challenges.
Through this training opportunity, we strive to expand the circle of individuals who can recognize and respond to these experiences within our workplaces and communities by:
- Addressing common mental health concerns commonly encountered by adults.
- Diminishing the stigma associated with mental health challenges.
- Providing strategies for family members, friends, and colleagues to identify signs and symptoms of mental health or substance use challenges and extend support.
- Offering self-help techniques for maintaining mental well-being.
Together, these efforts will contribute to fostering a more informed, empathetic, and supportive environment where individuals are empowered to address mental health challenges with confidence and care. We will also be conducting pre and post surveys to capture what is learned and how equipped community members feel to Identify, Understand, and Respond to mental health needs in our community following the training.
