About this Event
On Saturday, Nov.15, the National Association of Black Journalists–St. Louis will celebrate the careers of:
- Shirley Washington, a longtime, award-winning news anchor/reporter in St. Louis;
- Mike Claiborne, Cardinals radio broadcaster and former KMOX Radio host;
- Reginald Riddle-Young, 34-year veteran writer/reporter with the East St. Louis Monitor; and
- Gloria Ross, a veteran public relations professional and entrepreneur.
The event will kick off at 5 p.m. at Il Monastero, 3050 Olive St. on the campus of Saint Louis University, with a reception for the honorees followed by the awards ceremony. Tickets are $50 per person.
Rod Hicks, the new executive editor of the St. Louis American, will be the keynote speaker; and the recently retired KSDK-TV News Director Art Holliday will serve as emcee.
The program supports NABJ-STL’s historic Minority Journalism Workshop for metro-area high school students, including providing thousands of dollars in annual scholarships.
NABJ–St. Louis, formerly known as the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists, was established in November 1976 as a local affiliate of the National Association of Black Journalists. The organization serves journalists, media professionals, educators and students.
