Come join us in the Visitor Center Theater at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 8 to hear historian Jay Callaham talk about the soldiers who fought in the Battle of Guilford Courthouse as a part of our annual lecture series leading up to anniversary weekend.Jay Callaham, a former Army major and retired communications executive, has studied the military history of the Revolutionary War for decades. A veteran reenactor of more than 50 years, he has narrated the reenactment of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse for about 20 years. He served as an advisor on the film The Patriot and others.
Callaham's lecture will be an overview of the kinds of men who did the fighting during the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. He will discuss demographic differences between the Crown and Patriot forces. He will also discuss the different systems the armies employed in training, clothing, feeding, and paying their soldiers. While there were many similarities, simple logistical challenges impacted the armies in different ways. Callaham will briefly discuss the leadership of each army and the opposing commanders and senior officers, but the principal focus will be on the soldiers in the lines.
This program is free, and seating is available first come first served in the Visitor Center Theater.
