Workshop Overview:
Join us for a comprehensive workshop in which we will share over 20 years of combined experience designing energy storage, solar plus storage and microgrid projects that allow developers, utilities, co-ops and grid operators to optimize design of grid energy storage systems. This two day workshop is a great opportunity for developers to learn (hands-on) how to design stand-alone and solar plus storage battery systems to minimize project LCOS. Attendees will also learn step by step how grid-tied batteries (lithium and long duration energy storage) can be an efficient non-wires alternative! We will cover all steps invovled in the process! Starting from project opportunity identification, to performing detailed energy storage simulations to deuce energy storage system sizing, technology and cost for stacked applications.
This interactive session will delve into the intricacies of planning, designing and deploying grid batteries.
Workshop Objectives:
- BESS Sizing Requirements: Learn how to intelligently deduce power and energy capacity requirements for energy storage systems across various grid applications.
- Optimize Battery Technology Selection: Learn how to select the most suited battery technology and OEM for each project based on its use-case, location and dispatch profile.
- Augmentation Schedule Optimization: Learn how to accurately design project augmentation schedule based on deduced degradation, lithium pricing forecast, discount rate, tariffs and other project details.
- Battery Dispatch Profile Creation: Construct detailed battery dispatch profiles for projects planned in different markets like ERCOT, PJM, CAISO and others.
- Smart Use-case Planning: Learn how to identify grid services that are most profitable, by identifying degradation and losses associated with each. Avoid planning use-cases that seem lucritive (high revenue), but will swiftly degrade your BESS.
- Performance Modeling: Gain insights into assessing battery losses, capacity degradation, and evaluating round-trip efficiency. Develop skills to predict the degradation curves of lithium battery systems.
