The Community Tree Giveaway is KDB’s longest-running tree distribution program. The program is open only to Denton residents, and participants must register in advance to receive a free 3-gallon size tree. A total of 700 trees will be distributed with seven different species available. Tree species and quantities are limited, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of one tree per household. *Participants must be able to pick up their tree on October 25, or they forfeit their tree*
REGISTRATION: Registration will open on Sept. 30, 2025 at 10 a.m. at www.dentonparkscatalog.com.
Available tree species vary, but all are native or adapted for the North Texas climate and soils.
WHEN: Saturday, October 25, 8 a.m. – noon (pick-up times are assigned). Registration is required.
WHERE: City of Denton Landfill
WHY: The Community Tree Giveaway is part of an effort to restore Denton’s urban tree canopy and provide educational information on the importance of trees in our community. For the past 27 years, this flagship KDB program has given away an average of 875 free trees each year to Denton residents.
