About this Event

The 2025 Central Florida Prescribed Fire Council Annual Meeting will be hosted in person in Kissimmee, FL at the Osceola Heritage Park (in the Extension Services building) and virtually on Zoom with the Southern Fire Exchange. There will be equipment demonstrations, sponsor booths, raffle prizes, and lunch (pizza + vegetarian and vegan options) for in person participants.

8:15 - 9:00 am - Sign in, Coffee, Sponsor Booths, Purchase T-shirts, Stickers, and Raffle Tickets

9:00 - 9:15 am - Welcome, Logistics, and Sponsor Acknowledgments

9:15 - 9:50 am - Central Florida Fire Weather Outlook for Fire Practitioners

9:50 - 10:20 am - Burning for Birds

10:20 - 10:35 am - Coffee & Snack Break, Sponsor Videos, Sponsor Booths

10:35 - 11:10 am - Lethal Bronzing Impacts on Forest and Natural Area

11:10 - 11:45 pm - Fire Regimes in Old-growth Grasslands

11:45 - 12:15 pm - Vendor Demo and Sponsor Booth Presentations

12:15 - 1:15 pm - Lunch (Pizza, including vegetarian & vegan options)

1:15 - 1:45 pm - Fire Tools and Weather Training

1:45 - 2:30 pm - Open Burn Authorization System and FFS update

2:30 - 2:50 pm - Practitioner and Public Preferences for Smoke Impacts from Prescribed Burns in the Southeastern U.S.

2:50 - 3:05 pm - Coffee & Snack Break, Sponsor Videos, Sponsor Booths

3:05 - 3:35 pm - Perspectives of a Safety Officer

3:35 - 3:55 pm - Tall Timbers New Fire Academy

3:55 - 4:00 pm - Wrap up, Thank You, Evaluation Reminder, and Next Meeting: Friday October 23rd, 2026


We highly encourage you to attend in person to take advantage of important networking opportunities with your peers and vendors as well as participate in fire related equipment demonstrations. The meeting space has the capacity to accommodate 180 people and we are expected to fill up quickly so please register now if planning to attend. Registration for the virtual experience will be open until the meeting time. Both in person and virtual attendees will be able to view sponsor videos during the coffee break.

Attend in person or virtually to receive Florida Certified Burn Manager credit or 4.5 hours of Category 1 Society of American Foresters (SAF) Continuing Forestry Education (CFE) credit.

To receive credit, you must attend in person or participate in the full Zoom experience (excluding the lunch break). Attendance via call-in is not eligible for either credit. If you plan to attend the meeting virtually as a group, watching on a single screen, to receive credit all viewers will need to register individually for virtual attendance and have one member of the group email [email protected] with a list of the names and email addresses of each attendee.


VIRTUAL REGISTRATION: If you are planning to attend virtually, you MUST fill out the Zoom registration form to in order receive the Zoom link to join. The link to the Zoom registration form will be provided near the end of the Eventbrite virtual registration. Once you have completed both the Eventbrite and Zoom registration, you will receive the link to join via email (this link will be sent to you by Zoom).

IN-PERSON REGISTRATION: If planning to attend in person we ask that you respect that the CFPFC meeting is a free day of education provided by a volunteer based non-profit organization. We will make food plans and accommodations based on registration numbers, so if you register for in-person attendance and are later unable to attend in person, please cancel your registration on EventBrite. You can re-register as a virtual attendee to attend via Zoom, but please ensure that your in-person registration is cancelled before doing so. We hope that you are able to attend in person, but if unforeseen circumstances arise and you need to cancel your reservation, see instructions below:


To Cancel Registration, log in to your account on www.eventbrite.com. Click on “Tickets” (found in the dropdown menu at the upper righthand corner of the screen with your username). Once you select the ticket that you would like to cancel, you will see the option to “Cancel Order.”
