To expand this mission beyond one scholastic opportunity to the entire city’s youth, Brick City Rowing was established in 2020. As a non-profit public benefit corporation, BCR exists to promote competitive youth rowing within the City of Newark, NJ. To accomplish this, we are partnering with local schools, local businesses, and community organizations to facilitate year-round programming that is championed on a national level and in time, globally.

Since inception Brick City Rowing has completed Phase 1 our our 10 year plan:

• We have moved all our programming within the City of Newark.
• We have secured a lease on riverfront property through the Newark Housing Authority.
• We have installed a 160 foot dock as of October 2024.
• We have invested over $200,000 in site development and beautification into our Newark riverfront property and mobilized over 10,000 volunteers hours from our community.
• Our youth programming is open to any youth athlete (male or female) within the Newark Public School system.
• We have and will continue to increase our partnerships with like minded organizations in the area.
• We are now moving onto Phase 2 of our 10 year plan and will unveil details for our future growth at this year's gala.

Hundreds of youth athletes have learned to row and have competed with our coaching staff since BCR’s inception. Our rowers have won numerous races each and every season, and have gone on to (and still) row at the best colleges and universities across the country, some competing at the national level with USRowing.

Along the way, many of our junior rowers have won numerous events and many of our alumni have gone on to (and are currently) row at top colleges/universities across the country
