An intimate concert at Etz Chaim Synagogue opens with Sonata for Solo Violin in G minor BWV 1001, a solo violin work, followed by a selection of vocal works from Tilge Höchster, meine Sünden, BWV 1083 performed by soprano Sherezade Panthaki and countertenor Jay Carter. Following intermission, harpsichordist Arthur Haas performs Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue in D minor BWV 903 before the culmination of the concert, Concerto for Two Violins in D minor, BWV 1043, featuring violinists Renée Jolles and Ariadne Daskalakis with the Bach Virtuosi Festival Orchestra.

A special way to kick off our 10th anniversary festival at Saint Alban’s Church, our new location in Cape Elizabeth, beginning with Obbligato Sonata in G and concluding with the stunning vocal work, Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, BWV 147. The opening night concert will feature Prelude, Trio, and Fugue in B-flat, BWV 545b performed by Hentus Van Rooyen, organist at Saint Alban’s, and just before intermission, Orchestral Suite #1 in C Major, BWV 1066 featuring the Bach Virtuosi Festival Orchestra.
Bach by Candlelight

The intimacy felt between a solo musician and the audience when the musician is on the same floor as the audience is spectacular. Bach by Candlelight is designed with this in mind – a dimly lit performance, so the audience can fully appreciate and take in the experience of these magical performances.
This special performance will be conducted in the beautiful outdoor gardens at St. Albans (weather permitting) and will feature a wine & cheese reception from 6:30-7:30 pm before the concert begins.
