About this Event
Anzac Day is an opportunity for the community to come together to recognise and remember the service and sacrifice of members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Originally a commemoration of the landing of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (Anzacs) forces on Gallipoli on 25 April 1915, Anzac Day has grown into a public expression of acknowledgement and gratitude for all veterans, both retired and still serving.
Since 1916, Brisbane has continuously commemorated 25 April with the Anzac Day Parade and features former and current ADF veterans, their families, marching bands, and various Allied Ex-service associations. The ABC has a proud history as broadcast partner of the Anzac Day services and streams online the National Commemorative Service as well as the Anzac Day Parade Brisbane live on ABCTV, iView, Radio and online.
In 2025, the Anzac Day Parade Brisbane will be led by the RAN and recognises the sacrifice of those members of the ADF who have not returned from wars and conflicts encompassing the Boer War through to modern operations such as Iraq and Afghanistan. A change to the normal Order will allow the Royal Australian Signal Corps personnel to march in Group 1 to recognise their 100th Anniversary. Those veterans, both retired and still serving, march to receive the thanks of the citizens of Queensland, and visitors to the region, as well as honour the memory of comrades who have not returned or have since passed.
The Parade takes place in the Brisbane Central Business District and is free and family friendly. The best position to view the Parade is on Adelaide Street, between George Street and Creek Street. The Parade runs between 9:45am and 12:30pm, and vehicle movement will be restricted within the Central Business District from 3am to 3pm.
The Parade is proudly supported by the Queensland Government, Brisbane City Council, RACQ and RSL South Eastern District.
