2024 VPA Piping Recital featuring Alasdair Henderson and Neil Walker - 7pm Friday July 26th PLC Doris Daniel Theatre 48 Parer st, BurwoodThe VPA is proud to present our second Victorian Championships recital this year on Friday July 26th 2024 at PLC Burwood. Doors open 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
Alasdair Henderson is the Pipe Sergeant for two-time World Pipe Band Champions, Inverary and District Pipe Band. He is instrumental in the band’s musical arrangements and part of the backbone of one of the World’s consistent top performers.
Alasdair’s solo record is exemplary. He has won both the Gold Medal at the Northern Meeting and the Argyllshire Gathering, the Former Winners MSR at Oban, the MSR at the Masters Contest, and third place in the MSR at the Glenfiddich Championship.
Neil Walker was recently appointed Pipe Sergeant of the WA Police Pipe Band and Lead Coordinator of the WA Police Youth Development Pipe Band. Neil has been a regular competitor at the world’s premier solo piping competitions at the Argyllshire Gathering in Oban and the Northern Meeting in Inverness for many years. In May 2024, after a hiatus of almost 5 years, Neil made a successful return to the competition scene at the R.U. Brown Gold Medal Competition in Adelaide by winning the ‘A’ Grade MSR and placing 2nd in the Gold Medal Piobaireachd event.
