Join us either in person or online for a free gala evening as we present the 2024 Seacology Prize! You'll get to learn more about Seacology’s work around the world, as well as meet other people passionate about protecting islands. Every year on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we host the Seacology Prize Ceremony to honor an extraordinary champion of island conservation. Seacology Prize winners have worked tirelessly to protect island environments and the often-marginalized people who depend on them.
This year's Seacology Prize recipient, Mohammed Kolugege, comes from Minicoy Island in the remote Lakshadweep Archipelago of India. This dedicated environmental leader has played a critical role in safeguarding his islands' ecosystems and unique cultural heritage. He has helped implement sustainable fishing practices, preserve shipwrecks that are now home to thriving coral reefs, and curated the large collection of unique cultural artifacts in Minicoy’s Seacology-supported museum.
The award ceremony is free and open to the public, though if you'd like to attend in person we encourage you to save your spot now at the Eventbrite ticket link, as space is limited. For those who can’t attend in person, we will also stream the event on our YouTube channel.
