2024 Santa's Little Hackers Event

Santa's Little Hackers is a seasonal toy drive to adapt toys. We make simple modifications to the electronics of toys and give them away.
These adaptations make the toys accessible to individuals with disabilities so they can play independently.
Santa's Little Hackers is an annual event put on by MaxMods. MaxMods is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation chartered to 'make the world accessible for all' by identifying adaptations and modifications to make the world work for individuals living with disabilities.

Join us for our annual Santa's Little Hackers toy making event on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Adams12 Five Star Schools - The Training Center in Thornton, CO.
We need volunteers aged 14+ to adapt electronic toys for the holiday season. Skills in soldering, basic hand tools, and simple stitch sewing are appreciated, but everyone who wants to participate will have a job to do.
Signed liability waivers are required, ages 14-18 will need waivers signed by their parent or legal guardian.
**Tasks include:**
- **Soldering/Adapting:** Modifying toys with solder or connectors.
- **Disassembly/Assembly:** Taking toys apart and reassembling.
- **Packaging:** Preparing toys for shipping.
- **Sewing:** Repairing seams after adaptation.
- **Quality Control:** Testing toys for functionality.
- **General Help:** Supporting various tasks to spread joy.
**Important Notes:**
- Tickets are required to manage volunteer numbers; use EventBrite to register.

- **Not a child friendly event** Childcare isn’t provided; youths 14+ can volunteer with a signed parental waiver.

- Feel free to bring personal soldering tools if desired; we'll have all necessary equipment on-site.

- Arrive by 8:30 AM for registration; lunch will be provided.
