Join the Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies for MFA Visual Studies Open Studios and get a look "behind the curtain" at the artistic practices and creative projects of our graduate students!
Every year PNCA’s graduate students invite the public into their studios and exhibition spaces for an evening filled with art, design and dialogue.
PNCA's annual MFA Open Studios is an opportunity to come together with fellow artists, educators and community members to get a behind-the-scenes view of what PNCA’s emerging artists and designers have been working on. This event will feature work from current students in the MFA Visual Studies program and will span a wide variety of media, forms, and concepts. Join us for an engaging evening of art, design and community!
At a time when the role of art and design is being reimagined and the contributions of creators are being valued more than ever before, the is pushing the boundaries of what art can do in the world. Our MA and MFA programs are designed to support each creator’s individual goals and provide them with the resources to bring their ideas to life. Our deep ties to the local arts community give our students an education they can only get in Portland. PNCA’s approach to art and design is influenced by Portland’s makers’ culture, incorporating values like experimentation, sustainability, social responsibility, and an emphasis on hand-made work using both emerging and analog technologies. Multidisciplinary exploration is integral to our identity, a practice we facilitate by allowing access to every lab and studio on campus and connecting students with individual mentors from different disciplines. We foster a supportive, collaborative environment where artists can comfortably grow and experiment with their craft. Both full-time and low-residency students receive mentorship and support from the PNCA and Portland community and are invited to fully immerse in a one-of-a-kind creative culture.
