Join us on Thursday, October 10 at the Museum of African American History in Boston for the 2024 Museum of African American History Stone Book Award Event — a highly anticipated annual social and scholarly event where we honor three authors whose remarkable books have made significant contributions to documenting African American history and highlighting the African American experience. Enjoy a FREE wine and hors d’oeuvres reception before gathering in the historic African Meeting House to learn more about this year’s winning authors: Victor Luckerson, Barbara D. Savage, and Chad L. Williams.

The first 100 people to arrive will receive a free signed copy of one of the winning books!

WHEN: Thursday, October 10, 2024. Reception at 5:30pm/Award presentations at 6:30pm.

WHERE: Museum of African American History, Boston Campus at 46 Joy St, Boston, MA 02114

At 6:30pm (ET) we will move up to the historic African Meeting House (this portion of the evening will be livestreamed).

Members of our esteemed jury will present the $50,000 prize to Victor Luckerson for Built From the Fire: The Epic Story of Tulsa's Greenwood District, America's Black Wall Street.

Two $10,000 finalist prizes will be presented to Barbara D. Savage for Merze Tate: The Global Odyssey of a Black Woman Scholar and to Chad L. Williams for The Wounded World: W.E.B. Du Bois and the First World War.

Enjoy a lively discussion between Victor Luckerson and GBH host Callie Crossley, followed by a short Q&A with the audience.

End the evening by receiving your free book (if you are one of the lucky 100) and our famous MAAH Stone Book Award cookies for everyone!

Join us in Boston for a wonderful evening filled with joy, celebration, and appreciation for the incredible talent of these brilliant authors! Recall the delight of gathering in community and don't miss this opportunity to play a vital, visible part in valuing and supporting their important work.
