Roanoke's largest, FREE multicultural festival will be in full swing at Elmwood Park. The Local Colors Festival celebrates the many ethnic cultures from around the globe that are represented in the Roanoke Valley. The festival opens with a Parade of Nations where residents proudly display their flags of their heritage and cultural dress. After that is an afternoon full of ethnic diversity to enjoy. Taste the dishes of many international cuisines, watch vivid dance and music performances, learn about different cultures from several exhibits, purchase vendor goods representing different cultures, and drink an international beer. Kids can create international crafts in our children's activity area.
Something exciting for 2024! South Korea will be our featured country. Thanks to the work of the Roanoke Valley Sister Cities and the relationship with their sister city, Wonju, South Korea, a delegation from Wonju will be participating in the Local Colors Festival including performance groups featuring contemporary and traditional Korean cultural dance.
The Local Colors Festival is a free family-friendly way to celebrate the bright tapestry that makes Roanoke a welcoming city.
Vendor and performer applications are closed.
A big thanks to our year round sponsors: Carilion Clinic, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, and the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport and event sponsors, Gentry Locke, Molina Healthcare, Aetna Better Health, Freedom First, Pinnacle Financial Partners and ServiceMaster Restore and corporate donors, Blue Eagle Credit Union and Bank of Botetourt.
