About this Event
The Gulf Reach Institute (GRI) is a non-profit international leader focused on STEM education for all. We prioritize the health of our Gulf communities and environment through advocacy of the diversity, equity, and inclusion of underrepresented populations.
As the premier youth program under GRI, the Gulf of Mexico Youth Climate Summit (GOMYCS) has a mission to bring together young students, leaders, and professionals to understand the critical issues facing the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). We are determined to develop the importance of climate action, preserve our gulf’s coastline, and take initiative to protect it through efforts in Education, Advocacy, and Policy.
This year, our focus is on leveraging the power of information to shed light on the disparities and injustices that persist in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) region due to the impacts of climate change. This years theme is "Justice for the Gulf: Data Reveals Inequities."
As stewards of the environment, the summit aims to empower young leaders with the tools to unravel the intricate tapestry of environmental inequities through the lens of data. The Gulf Reach Institute recognizes that true justice for the Gulf goes hand in hand with understanding the nuanced layers of disparity affecting communities, ecosystems, and economies along the Gulf Coast.
By delving into the data-driven narrative of the Gulf, attendees will be equipped to advocate for targeted solutions, amplify the voices of those most impacted, and contribute to a sustainable and just future for the entire region. We invite you to be part of this transformative journey, where knowledge becomes a catalyst for change, and justice becomes a guiding principle in the collective effort to protect and preserve the Gulf for generations to come.
