With over 20 years experience as a professional wildlife photographer Jay has also worked for major camera companies including Canon and Nikon, and will be presenting the key learnings from his career on what it takes to better your wildlife photography.

Jay will share his top tips around gear, settings, travel advice with gear, backing up images, using and understanding light, composition, mastering motion panning using ND filters, encouraging adding video to your skill set, and tips around working in the field to elevate your wildlife photography to the next level.

Working on location can be challenging; available lighting can be unpredictable and inconsistent. It can also be full of opportunities if you can learn to see the potential in a situation. This workshop will outline the key elements of understanding light, and using it to your advantage in available light portraits using telephoto lenses. A lifestyle portrait shoot will give you hands-on access to Nikon telephoto lenses for observational portraits. You'll explore location considerations, lighting, composition, focal length, & depth of field. Learn about technical considerations such as camera settings and autofocus options for portraiture using the Nikon Z-series cameras and telephoto lenses up to 800mm. Wear suitable attire for an outdoor shoot in the city and bring your own equipment, or borrow a Z kit for the session.
