We are noticing an increase in fraudulent activity on our social media pages where we publicize upcoming special events. Scammers are posting that "I’m the organizer of this event. If you want to be a vendor, contact me to register." They collect your "registration fee," scamming small businesses & food trucks out of hard-earned money. There is ONE authority on city events: the CITY OF NEW BERN. We accept registrations & fees in-person, on the city website...NOT through personal Facebook pages, google documents or by soliciting payment through Paypal, Cash App, Venmo, or other electronic payment apps.
