Calling all runners and walkers! Messiah Lutheran Church/Rotterdam Community Center will once again participate in the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge on Thursday, May 16, 2024. The CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge is the largest running/walking event in the Capital District of New York, and is organized by, and serves as the major fundraiser for, the Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC). The proceeds from this event help underwrite many of HMRRC’s activities and offerings, including college scholarships, grants, free races for members, and the Just Run® Program, which encourages grade school children to run for exercise and fun. Donations can also be made to this year's charities of choice: Wizard’s Wardrobe and Reeling for Recovery. Last year the RCC was selected as the charity of choice. From last year's event, RCC received over $33,000 which was used to support the Bread of Life Food Pantry, the Produce Pantry, a new security system and the ongoing operations of the Community Center.
This event will be a wonderful way to spread the good news about the Rotterdam Community Center, so please consider signing up to either run or walk with the MLC/RCC team. Registration to participate in the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge opened on February 15th. Our team is the Rotterdam Community Center. To register for the event go to cdphpwtc.com and then click on "Register to Run/Walk". Select the Rotterdam Community Center from the "Your Company" pull-down menu, then read and follow all of the instructions as you go through the application process. Note, under the "Workplace Information," indicate which activity you have assisted with at the church or the RCC (e.g., gardener, BL Food Pantry, Produce Pantry, Help Portraits) and indicate that Heather Zimmer is your supervisor. Please note, there is a $30 registration fee.
