Every fall election season the Portland Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee hosts a ride through the districts being contested in order to demonstrate to candidates and sitting councilors the state of bicycle infrastructure in Portland. Join us on this year's ride: September 29th at 10 AM till Noon.
We plan to meet in District 1 at 10 AM at the history table at Gorham's corner, across from the statue of John Ford; from there we'll loop through District 2, following the planned circumferential Peninsula loop as much as possible, detouring where necessary to follow a relatively comfortable route. We'll finish at about Noon on Diamond Street at the Portland Trails and Bicycle Coalition of Maine office, and attendees are welcome to join us for lunch across the street at Bite into Maine (if they're still open on Sundays in late September ;), after a discussion of the ride.
The ride will be held at a very leisurely pace, and only about 5.5 miles long, though another 2 miles might be tacked on if riding back to the start- Committee members will be available to guide you back to the start if you wish.
