About this Event
This Symposium rounds out our pair of 2024 Spring and Autumn Symposia poised "Between Past and Future".
Part 2, to be held online, provides an integrated follow-up for the Spring Symposium (Part 1 of 2) at Vassar College (hybrid), centered upon "Building Bridges between Special Collections and Teaching for the Liberal Arts", with special focus upon Vassar's collections of Medieval and Renaissance Books and their context, with references to collections and patterns of collecting, cataloguing, studying, teaching, and accessing such materials in many centers.
This time, taking charge on the Bridge of a vessel of passage, we focus on selected cases to examine such teaching practices and resources at work. In keeping with our informal, but structured, approach, the presenters might, with minimal preparation, showcase collections (private and public0 in virtual visits guided by curators or collectors in the company of teachers, students, and others interested in books, both on-site and online.
