Join the American Federation of Arts at the 2024 Gala & Cultural Leadership Awards this fall at Guastavino's in New York City.
This year, we are thrilled to honor multidisciplinary artist and community organizer, Derrick Adams, along with General Director of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, Sabine Haag.
Derrick Adams is a contemporary American artist recognized for his diverse artistic practice, which includes painting, sculpture, performance, and installation. His work often explores themes of Black identity, culture, and representation, drawing on elements from art history, popular culture, and representation. Sabine Haag is an Austrian art historian and museum director, whose scholarship and work have greatly contributed to the understanding and appreciation of European art and cultural heritage. Since 2009, she has served as the Director General of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, one of the world’s most prestigious art institutions. Under her leadership, the museum has seen significant modernization and increased international collaboration.
ABOUT THE AWARDS
The AFA Cultural Leadership Awards are given annually to artists, museum leaders, cultural institutions or philanthropists in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the art community. The event brings together leading museum directors, collectors, artists, philanthropists, and art professionals at an elegant gala to celebrate the American Federation of Arts and honor significant individuals in the arts.
Past recipients have included: Eli and Edythe Broad, Alice Walton, Wangechi Mutu, Charles and Valerie Diker, Kehinde Wiley, Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz, Marina Abramović, Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Frank Gehry, Roy Neuberger, Sarah Sze, and Eugene V. Thaw.
