Prague Shakespeare Company, in association with the National Theatre of the Czech Republic, is delighted to announce our 2023 Summer Shakespeare Intensives, taking place in Prague, Czech Republic from 19 June - 29 July, 2023. Open to actors, directors, designers, stage managers, dramaturges and all serious minded theatre artists, SSI 2023 gives you the opportunity to join the master teachers and continental Europe’s premiere English-language classical theatre, Prague Shakespeare Company, for 4-6 weeks of transformational classical theater training and mentorship. All the while you will be immersing yourself in one of the most picturesque and culturally rich cities in old Europe.
Participants complete their summer “Shakesperience” with a professional Prague Shakespeare Company credit added to their resume. Students enrolled in the 6-Week session will appear in/work on TWO productions during the training period. Students enrolled in the 4-Week sessions will appear in/work on ONE production during the training session. All SSI productions are featured as part of Prague Shakespeare Company’s 2023 Season and allow participants to work alongside professional PSC artists and Intensive faculty, performing in the heart of Prague.
2023 SSI PRODUCTION SEASON (6-Week Participants work on both sets of productions):
2023 Summer Shakespeare Intensive productions will be performed at different venues in the heart of Prague - including Divadlo Bez Zabradli, Divadlo Na Prádle, The Czech National Estates Theater and Prague Castle. SSI faculty, participants and Prague based professional theatre artists will make up the SSI Season Artistic Company. Auditions for the productions will take place on day one of your Intensive session.

Additionally we are delighted to announce that the President of the Society of American Fight Directors, Christina Traister, will be adjudicating a skills test in broadsword and you will have the opportunity to become certified in broadsword from SAFD.

SSI participants CUSTOMIZE their training by selecting special ELECTIVES based on their own personal areas of interest. In addition to core classes for all participants in Acting Shakespeare, Voice and Movement, SSI students customize their training and maximize time with particular instructors by selecting ELECTIVES based on their own personal areas of interest. Once we have received your payment in full you may select up to four (4) electives for the 4-Week Intensive and six (6) electives for the 6-Week Intensive. Electives are filled on a first-come/first-served basis and SSI participants sign up for electives based on the date of full payment for the Intensive (the participants who pay earliest get the first priority in selecting electives of their choice). Classes are Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm with Fridays reserved for one-on-one tutorials and Master Classes. Master Classes with leading members of U.S., U.K. and European stages are held every week. Rehearsals for the PSC 2023 Season productions are Monday through Friday from 6:30pm-10pm and Saturdays from 10am-6pm. Sundays are free to enjoy Prague and the Czech Republic!

Payment:
As a recipient of the Jim Johnson Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship no fees are due for Tuition or Room or Board. You may choose to upgrade your experience to the 6-Week Intensive for a fee of $1,900. You may also choose to select Room upgrades to a private room in a shared flat or a private flat. You may also choose to upgrade your experience to include the theatre ticket package and the Cesky Krumlov Weekend Theatre trip. Details about additional fees for these upgrades are below. Total Balance due for the 2023 Summer Intensives must be received in full by May 1, 2023. As has been our policy since establishing the Intensive many years ago, no refunds will be granted regardless of circumstances or participants inability to participate. Students are responsible for travel to/from Prague and other meals. Students will be met at the airport, and assisted in local travel if they arrive and depart on official SSI arrival/departure dates.

The Summer 2023 program will offer participants two tracks, one for emerging newcomers to theater studies and another for advanced students of acting, directing, stage design and management. Students may enroll directly in the Emerging Track. Admission to the Advanced Track is by audition or portfolio submission only.
