About this Event

Sagtikos Manor was built in 1697 and expanded in 1772 and 1902. Learn about the Thompson-Gardiner Families, who continuously owned the estate over 200 years. The house is furnished with original family furniture, artwork, accesories with architectural styles from the 1600s to the middle 1900s This estate once covering 1200 acres, now occupies 10 acres. On the grounds visit the 1900s walled garden, ice house, carriage house and the Thompson-Gardiner family cemetery,

During the Revolutionary War, Sagtikos Manor served as temporary headquarters for the British Army. After the war President George Washington spent the night during his 1790 tour of Long Island. Retrace Washington’s steps and visit the bedroon where he slept.

In 1902 the Manor was expanded to 42 rooms by Frederick Diodati Thompson. This shows the influence of the Gilded Age Period.

Grounds may be explored at your leisure. The Manor is not handicapped accessible.

Gilded Age Tours are given the last Saturday of the month. See separate event listing. During the Antiques, Vintage & Collectibles Show (6/18) and Antique Car Show (7/16) there is an abbreviated house tour. No reservations taken, walk-ins only.
