This is a preliminary round held in Singapore to qualify for the prestigious Orbifold Global Music Competition (Piano) in Los Angeles, USA.
About this Event

The Preliminary Round in Singapore will be held at the Recital Hall of Voices of Singapore, located at Capitol Theatre Building. The top three prize winners from each group will be eligible to proceed to the Final Round of the Orbifold Global Music Competition, to be held July 13th-15th 2023 in Los Angeles, USA. Please note the preliminary round in Singapore will only be open to pianists for 2023.

Registration Instructions
  • The competition is open to participants of all nationalities.
  • When submitting your registration, please fill in accurately and ensure the authenticity and validity. If there is any false information, you will be disqualified.
  • Contestants need to accurately select the group according to their year of birth.
  • Only one piece is allowed to be repeated between the preliminary and the final round.
  • There is no prerequisite for professional categories in Singapore's preliminary round. However, please note that there are additional repertoire and duration requirements for participants in professional categories (refer to image below). Failure to meet these requirements will lead to disqualification.
Competition Rules
  1. All performances must be given by memory. Failure to do so will result in a deduction of marks in the final score.
  2. If the total number of contestants in each group is less than 10, the organizing committee has the right to combine the awards.
  3. Applicants studying with any of the Preliminary and Final Round judges are eligible to apply, but will not receive votes/scores from their teacher.
  4. If the contestant fails to perform within the specified time, the judges have the right to stop the performance beyond the time, but it will not affect the scoring result.
  5. Contestants must check in at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. Contestants who fail to arrive on time will be dealt with by the organizing committee as an automatic withdrawal.
  6. It is forbidden to use mobile phones and other electronic photography equipment for video shooting during the competition. Only the videographers designated by the competition can film and/or record the performance.
  7. Participants are not allowed to adjust the order of performance by themselves.
  8. All prizes will be awarded unless the judges unanimously decide not to award one or more of the prizes. In case of a tie, the judges may decide to split a prize between two competitors. All decisions of the jury will be final and there is no appeal or review.
  9. All travel and accommodation expenses and accompanying personnel expenses are the responsibility of the participants themselves.
  10. Any situation not covered by these rules shall be referred to the organizing committee, which makes the final decision on such matters.
Preliminary Round (Singapore) Details
  • All participants will receive a certificate at the end of their performance.
  • Prizewinners for this preliminary stage will be contacted directly at the end of the competition day. All results will be announced on our social media by the next day.
  • Prizewinners from every category will be eligible to proceed to the final round held in Los Angeles, USA. A prizewinner's certificate for the preliminary round will also be mailed to the home address provided.
  • Video recordings of prizewinners will be featured on The Musicians' Stage social media platforms. The talent-development non-profit organization may contact promising talents for performance and learning opportunities in the future.
  • As mentioned above, only designated videographers can record the performance. If you would like a video recording of your preliminary round performance, please purchase the add-on for $15 when you register on this event page.
  • Chaperones will not be allowed backstage.
  • Audience tickets will be sold at $15 for each category, and one may enter or leave at anytime during the duration of the category. Participants may join the audience for free before/after their performance. All-day pass for audiences will be sold at $25 to be granted access to all categories.
