About this Event
Celebrate National Honey Bee Day with Brevard Backyard Beekeepers!  The event is FREE to the public and is aimed to educate people of all ages about honey bees and their critical role in global environmental health, and food security.
Enjoy lectures, demonstrations, food, music and a variety of activities from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the UF/IFAS Extension Brevard County complex at 3695 Lake Drive in Cocoa, Florida.
  • Lectures from UF Researchers, UF/IFAS extension agents, citizen-scientists and honey bee enthusiasts will be ongoing throughout the day and generally begin at 9:30am in the air conditioned lecture hall.
  • Elementary spelling bee (grades 1-5) and middle school spelling bee (grades 6-8) at 10am in the classroom with cool prizes.  There will be a special children's program presentation (appropriate for ages 3-12) in the classroom at 11:15am with make and take activities that promote the health and welfare of our most important pollinator.  Child friendly Honey Bee games, activities, education and face painting throughout the day under the tent canopies in shaded areas.
  • Stop by the many local honey sales canopies to taste and purchase local raw honey, hive products and local crafts.  Ask a Beekeeper, see a self-contained live bee hive in action and stick around for a live honey extraction and receive a free sample of honey to take home.

Help us support the world's most important pollinator by educating yourself on how you can help save the bees!
