Session 1: The Grieving Lament of a Godly Man (Psalm 88), Session 2: The Grieving Lament of the God Man (Matthew 26:36-46) “Sometimes (ok, more accurately many times) life can be hard and the circumstances of life can hurt - sometimes they hurt horribly!  As Christians, how are we to respond to bitter seasons of sorrow and torturous times of trial?  In light of the good news of the gospel should we just slap on a smile no matter our situation, or is there indeed a time for tears? Is it possible to sincerely groan without sinfully grumbling? What does it look like to be honest with God in times of great grief?  We'll look at the answers to these questions and more as we practically unpack one of the darkest psalms in all of Scripture (Psalm 88) penned by one of the wisest men in all of Scripture, and as we look at the pain filled prayer of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. In these 2 hard Biblical scenes, Lori Sealy will show us that, through Christ, there is indeed sufficient and substantial hope for us in even the hardest scenes of our story.”

Lori is no stranger to the need for hope.  Having lived a life filled with trial upon trial (most recently becoming a widow after the death of her husband of 25 years) she has had a front row seat in the school of suffering for several decades.  Thankfully, she has had a tender teacher in Jesus - the Man of Sorrows who is intimately acquainted with grief.  Her prayer is that in these sessions each of us will learn a little more about lament: what it is and why it's important; and above all else, that we will see the steadfast love and mercy of our Savior - who stores all of our tears in His bottle until that day when He will finally and fully wipe them from our eyes!
