Purchase your ticket in person or online.

In-person purchase – you will receive all the passes and drink tickets in advance, and can begin anytime.

Online purchases – you will receive an e-ticket for admission.

Bring your print-out or smart phone to the exclusive Opening Party / Will Call between 6pm – 9pm on event day.

We will scan it and issue your Marty Gras Party Passport, passes, drink tickets and a map with pre-planned routes. You may follow the suggested routes or crawl at your own pace.

Q1. Will the streets be closed?

A1. Yes, Fifth Ave is closed to vehicular traffic on weekends and special holidays.

Q2. Is there a parade with floats?

A2. No, the Mardi Gras parade has not been active since 2018.

Q3. Will this event be indoor or outdoor?

A3. Gaslamp Mardi Gras showcases Gaslamp’s top venues hosting the top Mardi Gras parties. Many venues offer both indoor and outdoor options for drinking and dining.

However, drinking on the streets outside of the venues’ perimeters is still prohibited.

Q4. Will people be dressed up?

A4. Absolutely! Come down in purple, green and gold, boas, beads, capes and crowns!

Q5. Is this a 21+ event?

A5. Yes, it is.

Q6. Will I be required to wear a mask?

Health masks: No.

Mardi Gras / Venetian masks, boas and beads: HIGHLY SUGGESTED!

Q7. Do I get to skip the lines at the clubs?

A7. Priority admission is not advertised and subject to the discretion of the venues. No harm approaching the door politely to inquire upon arrival if there is a line. Admission is subject to fire code capacity and guests' sobriety.

Q8. Do I have to follow a group to go from bar to bar?

A8. No, you don't. There are suggested routes and meet-up points but you are free to go wherever you like and stay as long as you like. We have a treat guide with expiration time to maximize your experience.

Q9. Is this Rain or Shine?

A9. All venues have covered spaces and are within walking distance, so rain is not really a factor. All sales are final.

Q10. What is the refund /cancellation policy?

A10. All sales are FINAL. There will be no refunds but you can resell or transfer the ticket to another party free of change.

“Mardi Gras” is the French translation for “Fat Tuesday”. It refers to the “final day of indulgence” before the start of Lent, when faithful Christians commit to fasting or giving up certain luxuries for 40 days and 40 nights as a form of penitence.

“Gaslamp Mardi Gras” is Southern California’s #1 Pre Mardi Gras Party Hop. It is a day when revelers from around the globe band together (known as “krewe”) to indulge in a “last hurrah" before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.
