About the Artist
Collin Margerum b.1985
He started drawing before he could speak and has never gone more than a few days without creating at least one sketch. His preferred method of communication is through the creation of two-dimensional artworks. He works with a combination of charcoal, soft pastels, oil stick, and acrylic, which he applies to autonomously defaced wood panels. His purpose is to explore the most contemporary issues facing the human condition. Our modern existence, shaped by scientific discoveries, sensationalist media, exponential technological growth, tumultuous political discourse, and an unbridled sense of entitlement, collides with the ancient philosophies that gave rise to them. Collin's artworks are expressive, elaborate, and phantasmagorical narratives that emerge as an aftershock of this collision.
Thank you to the Museum of Art - DeLand and Stetson University for providing the venue for this year's unveiling. This event will be catered by Joe Hearn Events, with wine provided by the Elusive Grape. Social time will begin in the museum lobby at 5:00 PM. Theater doors will open at 6:00 PM, with the program and presentation beginning promptly at 6:15 PM.
