About this Event
The Karma Sutra of Seismic
Cunning linguist and geophysical raconteur, Andrew Long, returns to his teenage stomping ground of Melbourne for a joint ASEG-PESA-SPE Christmas event that must not be missed.
Drawing heavily upon subsurface images, videos, and a variety of questionable props, he will describe, in an accessible and entertaining manner, how an emerging collection of ultra-high-resolution (UHR) and low impact seismic technologies, augmented by AI and automation, promise to impact exploration and development programs across the energy sector. He promises to have something of interest for every discipline in attendance, with an emphasis of course upon an enjoyable lunch with friends and colleagues after a long meeting hiatus.
Bio: Andrew Long is an Honorary Member of the ASEG, a Fellow of PESA, and therefore began his university education in the 1980s. He is now Chief Geoscientist at PGS, an active technology commentator on social media, and has an unhealthy obsession with geophysical technology, AI, and Collingwood. Born in Bendigo, he has a special affinity for geoscience in Victoria, and will focus his talk on relevant applications to the Bass Strait.
