About this Event

This workshop has been designed to help teachers, school administrators and staff develop critical thinking skills and strategies during high stress events.

Training will include an active shooter preparedness presentation from the School Resource Officers, an introduction to critical wound care by ICSAVE, and several training scenarios featuring YOU! Student volunteers who act as role players!!!

The dates and locations for the workshop are as follows:

June 5 - June 10: Cienega HS; 12775 E May Ann Cleveland Way, Vail, AZ 85641

June 26 - June 30: Pima Comm College EAST; 8181 E Irvington Rd., Tucson, AZ 85730

July 10- July 14 – Canyon del Oro HS; 25 W Calle Concordia, Oro Valley, AZ 85704

July 5 - July 9 - Flowing Wells Junior High; 4545 N La Cholla Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85705

There are twenty (20) days of classes. We need at minimum of 25-30 student volunteers each day. You may sign up for all 20 days or just some of the days that work with your schedule.

Transportation to and from the location is not provided. Please plan to arrive at your location no earlier than 8:00 am, no later than 11:00am. Lunch, snacks and water will be provided to student volunteers. Restroom facilities are provided. All facilities are air-conditioned. All scenarios will be concluded by 5:00pm each day.

After lunch you will receive instruction and an assigned scenario. If you attend multiple days, we cannot guarantee that you will be given the same scenario. If you are attending with friends, we will do our best to keep you in a scenario with your friends. Scenarios do require sudden movement, running and a small amount of physical activity. Please wear closed-toe shoes and dress appropriately.

Warning: This workshop simulates traumatic and stressful situations. It includes loud noises, stressful situations and simulated violence. No actual physical violence is allowed. If it occurs, the scenario will be promptly stopped by evaluators.

Certificates of volunteer hours worked will be provided at the end of the summer. It is important that you provide your correct address so we can mail them to you if you are not there to receive it.

This is a fun and rewarding experience! Most of our volunteers have been volunteering with us throughout their entire high school career. We’re excited and happy you’re joining our team in making Tucson, Marana, Sahuarita, Oro Valley and Pima County a better and safer place to learn! Thank you again for volunteering!
