Join us for our eleventh annual Speakers Series event! Our keynote speaker will be Nigel J. James, Senior Associate Chief Accountant, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Office of the Chief Accountant. Our ethics speaker will be Conrad L. Saltzgaber, Chief Audit & Ethics Officer, Nebraska Public Power District.

Nigel James is a Senior Associate Chief Accountant in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He joined the SEC staff in July 2010. His responsibilities include working with securities regulators around the world on the development of international financial and sustainability reporting standards, auditing standards and other initiatives to promote investor protection and confidence in global capital markets. He was previously appointed as the Vice Chair of IOSCO’s Committee on Accounting, Audit and Disclosure (Committee 1) for a two-year term through October 2020. He has represented the SEC on the IFRS Sustainability Standards Advisory Forum and the IFRS Advisory Council. He has also been an IOSCO representative on the Consultative Advisory Groups (CAGs) of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA). Prior to joining the SEC, Nigel worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers for 14 years, both as an auditor and in the firm’s U.S. National Independence Office. Nigel earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Charleston Southern University and a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Virginia. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Maryland, U.S.

Conrad Saltzgaber serves as the Chief Audit and Ethics Officer for Nebraska Public Power District. NPPD provides electrical service in 84 of Nebraska’s 93 counties and serves over 90,000 retail customers and 70 wholesale customers. Conrad joined NPPD in 2015 and directly manages the internal audit activity. He also manages NPPD’s ethics and employee concerns programs and anonymous hotlines; and oversees the District’s NERC Compliance Group. Conrad graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with a double emphasis in Accounting and Finance. Conrad has almost two decades of experience in auditing, with prior experiences at Nelnet as an Audit Director and Manager and as an auditor with BKD (now FORVIS). He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Financial Services Auditor and is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and AICPA. Conrad serves on the boards of the Good Neighbor Health Centers and the Ak-sar-ben Chapter of the IIA; and is the Chair of the Large Public Power Council’s Chief Audit Executives. Conrad lives in Columbus, NE with his wife and two sons.

A continental breakfast will be available before the speaker presentations begin, starting at 7:30 am. Speaker presentations will begin at 8:30 am. Event concludes at 12:30 pm.

Regular tickets are $100 ($120 after September 6); students attend free.

CPE credit: Two ethics and two accounting CPE credit hours approved by the Nebraska Board of Public Accountancy.
