2022 Pismo Beach ISA World Para Surfing Championships, Hosted by AmpSurf Dec. 2nd-12th (heat days Dec. 4th-11th).The 2022 Pismo Beach ISA World Para-Surfing Championships Hosted by AmpSurf™ will be held Dec. 2nd - Dec. 12th, with the following activities happening:
Dec, 2nd - Dec. 3rd - Whole event set-up
Dec. 2nd - 2pm - 5pm Adaptive/Para Surfing Symposium
Dec. 2nd - 6am - 9pm - Christmas in the Plaza and tree lighting ceremony
Dec. 3rd - 8am -12pm - Learn to Surf Clinic Presented by AmpSurf
Dec 3rd -1pm - 4pm - Contest Opening Ceremonies
Dec. 4th - 11th Contest heat days
Dec. 11th - Closing Ceremonies 1 hour after final heat of the day
Dec. 12th Event tear-down and clean-up

This event will gather the top 400 Para Surfing athletes, coaches and trainers from around the world to Pismo Beach to compete for World Champion. These athletes will be representing their home nations to claim gold, not only for themselves, but their nation.
Each day will highlight the athlete's skill, power and performance of competitors surfing in the 9 Para Divisions as recognized by the International Surfing Association (ISA), the governing body for Olympic Surfing as recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Host - AmpSurf™ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to Promote, Inspire, Educate, and Rehabilitate (PIER) all people with disabilities and their families through adaptive surfing and other outdoor activities.

Thank you for expressing interest to help us with this world class event in Pismo Beach, CA. Below is information on the daily schedule.
Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience. These events are not possible without your help. Our events have been successful, because everyone has a full commitment to their time slot. It is very important that all who sign up to volunteer make it to the event.
We know life happens, so please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend by emailing [email protected] . As we get closer to the event we will send out updates. AmpSurf’s goal is to Promote, Inspire, Educate, and Rehabilitate (PIER™) all people with disabilities and their families through adaptive surfing and other outdoor activities. Please be sure to arrive 10 minutes early and expect to have one of the greatest experiences of your life.
Volunteer Daily Schedule:
If you volunteer to help out at an event, your commitment is very valuable to a well-oiled machine. The Participants, Competitors, facilitators andy our fellow volunteers are counting on you!

General schedule by volunteer type:
Night Security - December 2nd - 11th
(2) 6hr shifts going from 6pm - 6am each night of the event to ensure competitor boards, equipment, and event stage gear are secure.
General Event Assistance - December 3rd - 11th
Roles include Set -up, tear down, wheelchair transfers, judging spotter, tabulator, food/water distribution, daily clean-up....
4hr shifts for each contest day.
Water Safety - December 4th - 11th
4hr shifts going from 6am - 5pm contest days only
Clinic Volunteers (Instructors, Beach, Booth and Water Assists) - December 3rd
7:00 - Volunteers arrive/set - up
7:30 - All volunteer briefing
8:00 - Participants arrive and are fitted for wetsuits if desired.
8:30 - Welcome brief participants/volunteers, dry-land training and safety briefing, group photo
9:00 - 11:00 In-Water surf instruction.
11:30 - Final comments, participants depart / volunteers tear down and pack up

Clinic schedule:
7:00a.m. - All Volunteers arrive
8:00 a.m. – Participants arrive – meet, greet and suit up
8:30-9:00 a.m. – Dry-land instruction
9:00-11:00 a.m. – In-water surf instruction
11:00-12:00 p.m. – Tear-down

Participants should bring the following items, everything else is provided:
Swim suit, towel, sun screen, picture ID, snacks and water
